Design Story
The composition is strictly centred: a horned, snarling guardian head anchored by a heavy ring knocker that repeats the disc silhouette in miniature. Everything is tonal \Uffffffff smoked browns, aged metal greys, plank lines running vertical behind the relief \Uffffffff so the two red gem eyes and the matching cabochon accents read as the only colour statement. Supporting details are kept to the outer field: a keyhole escutcheon, a hanging chain, dried maple leaves, faint cobweb and a curl of smoke. Negative space in the wood grain lets the raised-looking carving breathe.
